Virginia Beach- The East Coast Surfing Championships will be returning to Virginia Beach on August 24-28. an estimated six hundred surfers, both professional and amateur are expected to ride the waves this summer and compete for combined cash prizes of $35,000.
The East Coast Surfing Championships, Produced by the Virginia Beach Jaycees, has been an annual event since 1963 and continues to grow in size and attraction. Not only will you see some of the worlds top surfers, The SCION Thrash Jam will be a part of the ECSC again this year! This tour features two full days of extreme sports demonstrations and fan interactive challenges, plus a collaboration of local, regional and top national bands.
The E.C.S.C. event is not limited to just surfing, this event is host to beach volleyball competitions, skimboarding, an oceanfront 8K run, a swimsuit competition and the extreme sport of skateboarding. Live bands perform for free on an oceanfront stage throughout the weekend. A cost is involved to participate in competitions, but all activities are free and open to the public.
